Ansu Fati has signed a new five-and-a-half-year deal with Barcelona that contains a €1 billion (£846 million/$1.16 billion) release clause, the Catalan club said on Wednesday. The 18-year-old has decided to stay at Camp Nou until 2027, putting an end to recent uncertainty over his future.
Barca allegedly had the chance to extend Ansu’s contract by two years, but instead chose to ensure that he remained on their books in the long term.
Fati has now made 47 appearances for Barcelona in all competitions since making his professional debut in August 2019.
The Spain international has 15 goals to his record, the most recent of which came in a 3-1 win against Valencia on Sunday, his first Liga start after returning from a 10-month injury layoff.
