Ole Solskjaer Has Been Dismissed As Manchester United Manager

The decision to fire the Manchester United coach was made after Watford defeated the club 4-1 on Saturday 20th November 2021. Since the beginning of this 2021/2022 season, many Manchester United fans have called the attention of the club management to sack Ole Gunnar as the club manager, but the club management was still having hope that Ole will still help the team to bounce back then. Ole Gunnar would have been sacked since the beginning of the season, however, Christiano Ronaldo arrival to the club stopped that from happening.

The motion that Ole Gunnar should leave the club be the fans started when Liverpool thrashed Manchester United in their first leg match this season and against Atalanta as well, where the Ole formation of tactics was not encouraging.

Thus, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer did his best to lift the club as it was during Alex Ferguson time, but his plan did work, below are some of his achievements:

Ole was appointed as Manchester United caretaker manager on 19 Dec 2018, taking over from Mourinho for the rest of the season.

On 22 December 2018, Solskjr’s first match was against his former club, Cardiff City, and United won 5–1. This was the first time United had scored five goals or more in a Premier League game since a 5–5 draw with West Bromwich Albion in Ferguson’s final game before retiring in May 2013.

Solskjr’s successful first full month as Manchester United manager earned him the Premier League Manager of the Month award for January 2019, during which time his team earned 10 points out of a possible 12 points, making him the first Red Devils manager to win the award since Ferguson in October 2012 and the first Norwegian to be named either Player or Manager of the Month.

His Manchester United squad finished with 66 points in both the 2018–19 and 2019–20 seasons. This resulted in a sixth-place finish in his first season, but it was enough to finish third in the 2019–20 season, only the second time Manchester United had finished in the top three since Sir Alex Ferguson left the club.

Furthermore, Manchester United reached three semi-finals in the 2019–20 season, in the EFL Cup, FA Cup, and Europa League, but was unable to advance past the semis.

Following a 1–0 win away to Burnley on January 12, 2021, Solskjr’s Manchester United claimed first place in the Premier League after 18 games. This was the first time Manchester United had been in first place after the New Year since the 2012–13 season when the club went on to win the competition under Sir Alex Ferguson.

Manchester United finished the Premier League season as runners-up with 77 points and qualified for the Champions League group stage. This was United’s first back-to-back top-four finish since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement. Manchester United lost on penalties to Villarreal in the Europa League Final on May 26 after a 1–1 draw.

Out of the 168 games Manchester United played under Solskjaer, he won 92 matches, 35 draws and 41 losses. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer didn’t win even a trophy, but he restored the soul of the club.
